Old photographs

Recommended Posts

You can scan them in with either a flat-bed scanner/multi-function printer, or photographing the photographs from a digital camera, whichever you choose.

Broad categories, including who is in the photographs, year taken, what was going on that may have prompted a series of photographs, etc. may be used in organizing, but then you may want to use Instagram or Google Photos or one of the other on-line photograph repositories.  These on-line repositories may aid you in getting prints, printing books after you have organized them, or even facial recognition might help for those photos without any writing which you recognize.  Those repositories would be a place where you could grant permission for family to get access to those same photographs, prints, books, etc.  Just watch the privacy policies for any repository you use.

You could even decide to organize them yourself if you are concerned about repository privacy, and burn copies of the photographs in .jpeg for photo-CDs which can be played in most DVD players or any format CD/DVD/thumb-drive for distribution to relatives.
